  • Dr. Schlegel is correct to point out our limitations when it comes to assessing a “normal” sperm. Hopefully through investigations similar to the one in the current issue, we will slowly improve our knowledge of sperm morphology and behavior. Whenever I see a new assessment of morphology, I’m often reminded of a study presented at the AUA many years ago (Grober, Walters, Crain, Khera, Lamb, Murthy, Lopez-Perdomo, Lipshultz; Comparison of kruger strict morphology among fertile and infetile males; AUA 2007). The group essentially compared strict morphology between men evaluated for infertility and presenting for a vasectomy and found no differences in overall rates of teratospermia.
