We agree that damaged sperm that are beyond repair play a significant role in miscarriage. The difficulty lies in determining the severity of sperm nuclear damage. Recently, we developed a simple test to expose and analyze the sperm DNA toroids showing a correlation between damaged sperm nucleus and miscarriage: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25649376
As mentioned, correlation is not evidence of causation, but many such correlations make a compelling conclusion.
